THREE local projects aiming to create positive change in the community received a $1000 grant from the Victorian government earlier this week.
Minister for Youth Affairs Ryan Smith announced the funding while in Bendigo for Monday’s cabinet meeting.
The recipients are:
- Bendigo Youth Advisory Group and Eaglehawk Secondary College Kinder BMX upgrade project;
- Lead On’s Youth Innovation Centre Advisory Group’s youth social enterprise workshops; and
- Castlemaine and District Community Health’s Youth Clinic Peer Support
Group’s peer support project $1000.
Mr Smith said he hoped the grants would help young people in rural and regional areas to be involved in the life of their communities and make a positive difference.
“We know that when young people have a say in local matters that effect or concern them, they are more likely to maintain ties with their community.
“Each of these groups has identified an important issue in their community and these $1,000 grants will help them develop local, youth-led projects and gain new skills.”
