BENDIGO teenager Troy Mansbridge will take on Australia’s premier junior lawn bowlers in Perth later this year.
Mansbridge, 16, has been selected in the Victorian under-18 squad to compete at the national championships at Sorrento Bowls Club in Perth in October.
Mansbridge earned selection on the back of a strong performance at the recent junior Gold Nuggett Championship in Tweed Heads.
The invitation only event brings together the best 16 juniors in Australia.
Mansbridge bowled superbly to make it into the final eight of the tournament.
Mansbridge, who has played 18 games for Victoria at under-18 level, will play singles and lead the triples side at the national championships. The trip to Perth will round out a successful year for the teenager.
In March, Mansbridge and his father, Brian, helped Bendigo Bowls Club to victory in the division one pennant grand final against Bendigo East.
Mansbridge will be joined in the Victorian team by Kyneton’s Chloe Stewart.
The 17-year-old will play singles and pairs in Perth.
