THE Bendigo Bank Spirit is aiming to build on last season’s success with a new membership drive.
The WNBL champions have launched a campaign to sign-up 2000 members for the 2013/14 season.
It’s the first time the club has offered bundled membership packs for juniors, adults and families.
Spirit chairman Jeremi Moule said a substantial membership base would strengthen the club’s chances of sustained success.
“From about January onwards during (last) season there was a real season that the connectedness to the community was growing and at a level that we hadn’t achieved in other seasons when we’d been quite successful,” Moule said.
“As that continued through to the point of hosting and winning a grand final in Bendigo, that sense of connectedness only got stronger and stronger.
“From the outset of setting the club up, that’s what we hoped to achieve one day.
“So this is a real effort to convert that into building some memberships and continuing to build the strength of the club in the community as well as on the court.”
All membership packs include reserved seating to Bendigo Spirit home games and discounts on team singlets.
Junior memberships cost $100 for Spirit fans under 16-years-old and also come with a Bendigo Spirit Cheer Pack valued at $80.
The Cheer Pack includes a team back pack, wig, horn, bumper sticker, drink bottle, flag, tattoo, basketball, hand clapper and face paint.
Adult memberships are $150 and include a team polo shirt, cap, bumper sticker, drink bottle, 12-can esky and stubby holder. Family memberships for two adults and two children are $350 and large family memberships for two adults and up to five children are $400. The Spirit tips-off the WNBL season with a grand final re-match in Townsville on Friday, October 4.
Bendigo’s first home game is against Adelaide on Friday, October 11.
“We’ll be selling them (memberships) right up until then and beyond,” Moule said.
“But to make the most of buying a season ticket as part of the membership pack we’d be hoping that people would be jumping on board then, coming to the first game and for the rest of the season.”
In association with PEAK Sport, the Spirit will be running weekly prizes for members and will draw a major prize at its first home game of double passes for five members to its away game against Dandenong.
The major prize includes VIP experience transfers in the My Jet limousine.
