FAMILY First candidate for Bendigo Alan Howard's message to voters:
THE starting point for Family First is simply as the name suggests, that ‘families come first’.
We contend that no form of human association can match the profound benefits of being raised in a loving, functional and secure family.
I have become increasingly concerned about not just the major issues as identified by other parties, including the economy, cost of living, border security and the increasing costs of climate change policies, but also some of the ‘side issues’.
I am personally particularly opposed to any move to change the Marriage Act and will work hard to clarify the issues and ramifications of what I regard as little more than an elaborate marketing and promotions campaign to simplistically represent the proposal as a matter of ‘equality’, which it is not.
At this point in the campaign I would expect that the Liberal/National coalition will likely gain government in their own right. I think therefore this will be one of the most critical elections for the electorate of Bendigo in recent times.
Do we ‘want to have a voice in the tent’ or will we be ‘working from the outside’ during very difficult economic times, competing to secure support for the projects and services vital to this region.
The Labor/Green minority government experiment has been a catastrophic failure for the country. We are up to our ears in debt at the time of great international economic stress and global uncertainty. Job losses big and small, are being reported weekly, boat arrivals daily and we continue to pretend that carbon dioxide is a pollutant. And what is the Green/Labor priority order, gay marriage!
A vote for Family First will go a long way to ensuring a balanced voice of reason, reviewing critical legislation for its impacts on families cost of living and issues that affect the social fabric and security of our country.
