A BENDIGO woman was charged on Monday after allegedly trying to break into a Kennington home.
Police are still searching for a male who is known to them who they believe also was involved in the morning incident.
Sergeant Mick McCrann said police received a call from a concerned neighbour who saw someone breaking into the rear of a property in Mafeking Street.
“The family violence team unit were nearby and managed to get to the scene within a minute of getting the call,” he said.
Sergeant McCrann said the female had broken through a window to get into the house.
“Police went into the property, through the broken glass and saw the offender,” he said.
“The female then dropped what she had taken and fled the scene.
“Police then went on a foot pursuit with the female down Mafeking Street. She was soon arrested.”
Sergeant McCrann said a male was also involved.
“We believe he was in a vehicle near the scene,” he said.
“He is known to police. We are looking to talk to him.”
Sergeant McCrann said the female offender was charged and bailed. He said she would face Bendigo Magistrates Court at a later date.
