CLASSIC Mercedes Benzes and early 20th century tractors revved the engines of adults and children alike at Hargreaves Mall on Saturday.
The Veteran Vintage and Classic Club Bendigo put on the display to mark VicRoads’ centenary celebrations.
Display organiser Neil Athorn said the cars were from the 1920s up to the 1980s.
“It’s an interesting display of transport over the years. It gives people an idea of the changes,” he said.
“We’ve had lots of people come over and have a chat.”
VicRoads regional director Mal Kersting said it was just one event VicRoads was holding in Bendigo to celebrate its 100th birthday.
A centenary photographic exhibition is on display at Dudley House until September 2.
“We have old photos relevant to the area and archival footage of the early days,” Mr Kersting said.
“It’s amazing to talk to people who have memories of the early roads and bridges in the footage.”
