A GOOD Samaritan has handed a substantial amount of money in to Bendigo police.
Senior Constable Cary Towers said the person found the money in Bendigo’s CBD yesterday morning. Police are now looking for the owner.
“It happens quite a bit,” Senior Constable Towers said. “But usually it’s found with personal identification with a wallet. Certainly money on its own doesn’t happen that often.”
Police will not identify how much money was found and where it was located to avoid false ownership claims.
Senior Constable Towers said the person who handed in the money would be able to keep it if it wasn’t claimed within a set time.
“If the person can confirm the amount lost, we’ll be able to identify the owner.”
