The Gaels will take time-out from their Australian tour to have an open training session at Maryborough Basketball Stadium on the same court Matthew Dellavedova started as a junior 15 years ago.
"It's sensational for Maryborough that the Gaels have decided to come to Maryborough,'' Central Goldfields shire chief executive Mark Johnston said.
"Matthew has taken the Maryborough name to the world and it's great that his college team holds him in such high regard that they've decided to come to Maryborough."
Dellavedova graduated from St Mary's earlier this year as arguably the best player in school history. He is the school's all-time leader in scoring, assists, three-pointers, free throws and games played.
Dellavedova won't be in attendance on Saturday because of his commitments with the Australian Boomers.
Even in Dellavedova's absence the Gaels have a strong Australian flavour. His former coach at the Australian Institute of Sport, Marty Clarke, has just been appointed an assistant coach to Randy Bennett at the Gaels.
Adam Caporn is another Australian on the Gaels' coaching staff.
On the court, senior guard Jorden Page, senior centre Matthew Hodgson and freshman forward Dane Pineau were all recruited from Australia.
The public is invited to attend the Gaels' training session.
Training starts at 10.15am and the session will run for between 60 and 90 minutes.
Players and coaches will be available for autographs after the session.
