Mike Dalton broadcast weather updates for the show from Lake Weeroona on Sunday.
Speaking from the show’s Sydney studio, presenter Leila McKinnon suggested Mr Dalton was broadcasting from the middle of nowhere.
“He’s doing a good job in the middle of – I won’t say nowhere – Bendigo,” she said.
Mr Dalton told the Bendigo Advertiser he was glad he didn’t make the comments.
“They said it on air, did they?” he joked
“It wasn’t me, was it?
“I’m off the leash then, they can deal with that pain then.
“I’m looking after you blokes.”
Mr Dalton admitted he referred to Bendigo as Ballarat in his first cross and joked a “big fella called Tony” had “gently remonstrated” with him in the next cross.
Mr Dalton, who replaced regular presenter Emma Freedman, who was ill, said he had enjoyed his time in the city.
More than 20 members of the 3T Fitness group featured in one live cross and the show’s crew spent several hours on Saturday getting footage from around the city.
Producer Matt Mitchell said the show would have been watched by about 400,000 people.
