Alister Hope struck a goal in each half as the Raiders celebrated their third victory of the season.

Moama coach Dave Coward said yesterday the team showed a lot of resilience and determination following some late changes because of injury and unavailability for the match at Shadforth Park in North Bendigo.

“We had some dramas heading to Bendigo once again, just like we did in Swan Hill a couple of weeks ago.”

On both occasions the Raiders were able to overcome some setbacks and win.

“We had to reshuffle the team. It was great to have Alister Holt back in attack. He had not played for a few weeks because of work commitments.”

Coward said a key to Sunday’s win was controlling the midfield.

“City has some really skilful players, but we were able to nullify them for a lot of the game.”

Holt capitalised on the play of midfielders Kieryn McKemmish, Harley Richardson and Harry Ennis.

The Raiders coach was also rapt with the form of 14-year-old goalkeeper Clayton Scott.

Best players for Golden City were  Josh Claney, Ah Pay and Aungtue Lay.

The ladder-leading Colts United won the women’s championship clash with Golden City.

Rebecca Berry struck a goal and City conceded an own goal as United clinched a 2-1 victory.

Tania Rusbridge was on target for Golden City.

Best players for Colts United were Amy McDonald, Louise McColl and Rebecca Berry.

Golden City’s best were Ayrlea Bailey-McLanahan, Krystal Belben and Kristen O’Connor.

The division two match at Shadforth Park ended in a 4-2 win for Golden City against Moama.

Basha struck two goals for the Rams and Tha and Robinson were on target.

The Raiders’ goalscorers were Foran and Denham.

In the youth championship, Golden City Rams scored an 8-2 win against Epsom as Corey Page struck five goals.
