CCB was unbeaten in Tuesday’s play for Sandhurst division at Flight Centre Park in Strathfeldsaye.
After starting the campaign with 12-goal wins against Girton Grammar and Weeroona College, the CCB line-up won a hard-fought clash with Bendigo South East by eight points.
The BSE Dragons had won their clashes with Crusoe College and Girton Grammar.
After a 27-19 loss to CCB, the Flora Hill-based BSE won the fifth round clash with Weeroona.
CCB’s run to the grand final hit a hump when the Kangaroo Flat-based Crusoe College teamed brilliantly for scores to be locked on 5.4 (34) at the final siren.
CCB then faced BSE in the grand final.
It was a dour struggle for possession and goals.
Catholic College beat the BSE Dragons, 1.4 (10) to 1.2 (8).
Final standings at the Sandhurst division years 9-10 boys’ football carnival at Strathfieldsaye were Catholic College Bendigo, Bendigo South East, Crusoe College, Girton Gammar and Weeroona College.
Best player awards for each team were presented to Tom Gill, Catholic College Bendigo; Lachlan Tardrew, Bendigo South East Secondary College; Sam Kennedy, Crusoe College; Kane Timmins, Girton Grammar; and Josh Formosa, Weeroona College.
