The ‘Hurst teamed brilliantly on the QEO court to win 62-46.
It was a high-scoring match played between the fourth-placed Sandhurst and second-placed Kangaroos on the first day of the split 15th round.
Beaten at Golden Square two rounds earlier, Sandhurst has since struck back to inflict Gisborne’s first defeat of the season and then outpoint Kangaroo Flat.
The maroon and blue now have an 8-4 record and will play at Castlemaine, Strathfieldsaye and then at the QEO against Maryborough in the run to another finals campaign.
Kangaroo Flat will be determined to bounce back from just its second loss of the season when it faces the ladder-leading Gisborne in round 16.
After the clash with Gisborne, the Roos’ A-grade team have a break as they are drawn to play Kyneton.
The Roos final match in the home-and-away series is at Strathfieldsaye’s Flight Centre Park.
A week after its unbeaten streak was broken, Gisborne dominated Saturday’s clash with Strathfieldsaye at Gardiner Reserve.
Gisborne’s mid-court and attack was in hot form as the red, white and blue racked up 72 goals.
Strathfieldsaye Storm scored 32 goals against the ladder leaders.
Both A-reserve matches were closely-fought.
Sandhurst scored a 38-32 win against Kangaroo Flat at the QEO.
Gisborne was pushed all the way by Strathfieldsaye in a 41-34 result for the home team.
The unbeaten run for Sandhurst’s B-grade and B-reserve teams rolled on.
The B-grade match at the QEO ended in a 59-45 victory for Sandhurst against Kangaroo Flat.
Storm’s defence was superb as it kept Gisborne to 20 goals and won the B-grade match by 16 goals.
The B-reserve clash at the QEO ended in a 55-31 win for Sandhurst.
Storm’s first win of the day at Gisborne was in B-reserve as Strathfieldsaye achieved a 47-31 result.
In the 17-under competition, Gisborne fought on to score a 45-41 win against Storm.
Kangaroo Flat dominated its clash with Sandhurst. The Roos have a 13-1 record following a 61-31 win.
Round 15 will be completed this Saturday.
Eaglehawk is at home against Golden Square at Canterbury Park.
Kyneton and Castlemaine do battle at Kyneton Showgrounds, and South Bendigo and Maryborough will play on the QEO court.
