The incident happened about 4am. The man was trapped in the truck’s cabin, but was conscious and able to call for help.
Acting Sergeant Mark Bell from Maryborough police said it was lucky the truck was not carrying any cargo at the time. “The matter is being investigated,” he said.
“We’re unsure of the cause of the incident. It was a single-vehicle collision.
“He’s ran off the road and the cabin has basically dug into the ground and the weight of the trailer has crushed the cab.
“The sergeant who went out there said he’s very surprised the driver wasn’t more seriously injured.”
The man is believed to have suffered leg fractures and was in a serious, but stable condition.
Later yesterday, just after 11.30am, emergency crews attended a car roll-over in Elmore.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said the female driver of the vehicle was alert and conscious.
She was not believed to have suffered any injuries.
