Life-sized shark creates spectacle on Bendigo roads

THE Bendigo Advertiser fielded several calls on Tuesday from people reporting a great white shark being driven around town on the back of a trailer.

Owner of the shark, Glenn Holmes of Melbourne, confirmed on Wednesday that the shark is not real, but a life-sized replica made for an American Wrigley’s chewing gum commercial.

Mr Holmes drove from Melbourne to Bendigo on Tuesday and stopped at Kangaroo Flat Rotary Club, pulled in for some shopping at the Marketplace and took in the sights of Lake Eppalock.

“A couple of chaps said they’d never seen a great white in the banks of the water,” Mr Holmes joked.

More in tomorrow’s edition of the Bendigo Advertiser and online.
