Dellavedova this week completed work-outs with the Jazz and Clippers in the build-up to next week’s NBA Draft.
The Boomers point guard previously had trials with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets as well as a draft combine in New Jersey where all 30 NBA clubs were represented.
After a standout college career with the St Mary’s Gaels and a strong performance with the Boomers at last year’s London Olympics, Dellavedova is seen as a late second-round draft prospect.
The NBA Draft is made up of two rounds of 30 selections and three respected college basketball experts have Dellavedova earning selection in the late 50’s.
CBS Sports duo Jeff Goodman and Gary Parrish both predict Dellavedova will go to the San Antonio Spurs with selection 58. The NBA Draft Insider has the Minnesota Timberwolves taking Dellavedova one pick later at selection 59.
Goodman has big wraps on Dellavedova.
“Makes all the right decisions, is tough as nails and could fit in the Spurs system perfectly,’’ Goodman wrote.
Dellavedova has strong links with the Spurs. Former Boomers coach Brett Brown is an assistant coach with Spurs and Dellavedova’s Boomers team-mates Patty Mills and Aron Baynes are on the Spurs roster.
The Spurs only have two selections in the draft – 28 and 58. The Timberwolves have four – 9, 26, 52 and 59.
The NBA Draft will be held on Friday morning, June 28 (AEST).
