That’s Guy Sebastian’s advice to Bendigo’s aspiring musicians.
The Australian singer-songwriter will take to the stage at The Capital tonight and tomorrow night as part of his Get Along tour.
“You’re always learning,” Sebastian said.
“It’s about putting in the hours. Just listening as much as you can and honing in on your craft and getting involved in as many things as you can, programs and things like song writing conferences and things.
“Don’t ever be content because even after ten years I know nothing. Obviously I’ve got better and I’ve learnt a lot but still in the capacity for learning there’s a lot more I can do.
“It’s just about honing in on your craft and not getting caught up in the bull crap.”
Sebastain has performed in Bendigo in the past and yesterday said he was looking forward to his visit this week.
“I’ve been to Bendigo numerous times, even when I was in Bendigo years ago, I was in Bendigo performing,” he said.
“I used to live in Melbourne when I first moved to Australia so I used to venture across there a few times.
“It will be good, we’ve got a couple of shows there so it’s going to be fun.”
Sebastian is looking forward to playing songs off his latest album Armageddon, which was released in October, hitting number one on the ARIA album chart.
“I released it a little while ago and I had four singles off that... it’s sort of time I guess for me now to think about some new music and think about what’s next and do all of that,” he said.
“I might be at the hotel room or whatever and I’ve just got to try and get creative.”
