This time it was to Wycheproof-Narraport as the Demons prevailed by 29 points, 15.14 (104) to 11.9 (75).
Wedderburn – the two-time defending premiers who won 32 of 36 games the previous two years – now have a 1-3 record.
The Demons gained the upper hand during the second quarter.
After leading by a point at quarter-time, the Demons kicked seven goals to two in the second term to open up a 30-point buffer at half-time. The Redbacks cut the deficit to 18 points at three quarter-time, but the Demons regained control in the final term.
Kristian McNicol, Spencer Allan, Trevor Rumbold and Declan Lourey (three goals) were the best for the Demons, who are now 3-2.
Just as he has in done in all five games this season, Corey Jones kicked three goals.
Jacob DeAraugo, Danny Benaim and Cameron Perry played well for the Redbacks, who have lost three games in a row for the first time since 2009. Key forwards Brady Herdman and Sam Barnes kicked three goals each.
● Top side Charlton kept its unbeaten start to the season intact with a 123-point belting of the struggling Birchip-Watchem.
The Blues kept the Bulls scoreless in the second and third quarters during their 21.14 (140) to 2.5 (17) victory.
The win was Charlton’s 10th in its past 11 games against the Bulls.
The Blues’ extended their advantage at every break from 23 points at quarter-time, to 46 at half-time and 75 at three quarter-time, before the final margin of 123.
Joseph McGrath (five) and Anthony Judd (four) combined for nine goals for the Blues, who were also well served by Ben Walklate, Luke Kyriakides (three goals) and Thomas Finlay (two goals).
The victory was Charlton’s biggest in its past 69 games since it beat St Arnaud by 126 points in round four, 2009.
Jacob Noonan, Angus Grigg and Jacob Christie battled valianty for the Bulls, who had 1.3 on the board at both quarter-time and three quarter-time.
● Boort defeated Donald by 17 points, 14.7 (91) to 11.8 (74).
The game was up for grabs at half-time when Donald led by three points, but the Magpies gained the ascendancy with a dominant 7.0 to 2.2 third term.
Coach Ricky Easton booted six goals for Boort, which was also well served by Matthew Rice, Jonathan Lanyon and Peter Manser.
Lucas Anderson (three goals) continued his outstanding season for Donald, while Ross Funcke, Blake Grant (five goals) and Adam Baird were also impressive.
