It was only two months ago that the Dragons announced themselves to the wider public, but already the club has secured several three-year sponsorship deals.
Doherty’s Gym has signed as the major sponsor, while the McIvor Hotel, Southern Cross Austereo and Hungry Jacks Kangaroo Flat are on board as jersey sponsors.
It’s a positive start, but Bendigo Dragons treasurer Dennis Barnett said the search for support was not over.
“Every club appreciates the help they get from their sponsors, but none more than a club that is starting up. The costs associated with the purchase of the equipment, including balls, goal posts, are incredible,” Barnett said.
“All sponsors have contributed monetary amounts that have helped the club get to where it is now. With the success of starting a senior team, the club is looking at fielding a junior team for 2013-14.
“But if you’re a business and you think it is too expensive to sponsor a team but still want to offer support, there are other ways to get involved either through in-kind contributions, or by purchasing signs for home games for as little as $550.”
The Dragons will play their first Gridiron Victoria division two game this Saturday at Corio against the Northern Raiders from 1.30pm.
Bendigo has three away games before its first home match at Tom Flood Sports Centre against Ballarat on June 1.
