Charlton dominated the Redbacks to win 15.14 (104) to 7.12 (54) at home.
Before Saturday, Wedderburn’s last defeat had also been at the hands of Charlton by four points in round six last year.
The Redbacks weren’t at full strength, but the Blues were impressive, particularly in the second quarter when they took hold of the contest.
Having led by 10 points at quarter-time, the Blues kicked six goals to two in the second term to open up a 35-point advantage at half-time.
By three quarter-time the Blues had held the normally high-scoring Redbacks to just three goals, before Wedderburn kicked four in the final term, while Charlton added five more to win by 50 points.

“It was an even contribution right across the board,” new Blues coach Reece Collins said.
“Wedderburn had a few out, but you’ve still got to take the points.
“We were reasonably happy with how we played, but there’s still a few things we need to work on.”
Anthony Judd and Joseph McLean finished with three goals each for the top-of-the-ladder Blues, whose best were led by Ben Walklate, McLean and Sam O’Connor.
Ruckman Brett Strange, Robert Tonkin and key forward Sam Barnes (two goals) played well for Wedderburn.
● Last year’s wooden-spooner Boort began its season with an 18-point victory over Birchip-Watchem.
The Magpies dominated the first half to lead by 30 points at the break.
The Bulls outscored Boort in the second and third quarters, but by then the damage had been done.
New coach Ricky Easton was dangerous inside 50 for the Magpies with five goals, while Ryan McGhie, Keiren Wilson and Troy Vanderzande also played well.
The Best for the Bulls, who are now 0-2, included Jake Hogan, Zac Holmes and Cameron Postlethwaite.
● St Arnaud overcame a slow start to defeat Wycheproof-Narraport by 45 points, 16.17 (113) to 10.8 (68), at home.
The Saints were 30 points down at quarter-time, and still 29 down at half-time, but booted 12 goals to one after the break to run over the top of the Demons.
Liam Cunningham (five) and Ross Tungatalum (four) combined for nine goals for the Saints, who also had stars in Zane Sullivan, Nigel Reid and Lee Stewart.
Boe Bish, Brock Bish and Ricky Allan (four goals) played well for the Demons, who would be bitterly disappointed to surrender their strong position at half-time.
