Mr Turnbull told about 80 people at the Capital Theatre tonight the government’s plan for the NBN had no budget, no cost benefit analysis and would take longer to install than the Opposition’s plan.
“There is no limit to what this will cost,” he said.
“There is no cap on it which is a pretty wild thing to do.
“These guys have no idea what they’re in for at all.”
Mr Turnbull said the Coalition's preferred option of fibre to the node was much cheaper than fibre to the premises technology.
ALP candidate for Bendigo Lisa Chesters yesterday labelled Mr Turnbull a “19th Century gas light salesman” for his stance on the NBN.
But Mr Turnbull said the technology favoured by the Coalition was used by dozens of telecommunications providers around the world.
“It’s simply a matter of taking a sensible cost effective approach for the build so you can get the upgrade done quickly and cost effectively,” he said.
