Victorian Goldfields Railway marketing officer Gary Aitchison said he expected upwards of 1000 people to enjoy the festivities.
“The event is for kids, but I think the parents get as much out of it as the kids,” he said.
Mr Aitchison said the event, to be held on the weekend of July 14 and 15, would be a fun day out for the family, with activities for young and old.
“We will have trolley rides, a model train on show, clowns, entertainment and also an animal farm,” he said. “The baby animals always prove the most popular with the little kids.
“This is one of our major fundraisers for the year,” Mr Aitchison said of the event. “All of the money we get goes to the ongoing maintenance of the heritage railway.
“The Victorian Goldfields Railway is operated by a not-for-profit society and is run by volunteers.”
Steam trains will depart Maldon Station on both days at 10.30am, noon and 1.30pm, and the other activities will be running at the station throughout the day.
