THREE separate faults on a Powercor feeder line caused 3330 Bendigo residents to lose power yesterday.
In Strathfieldsaye about 1584 houses experienced blackouts. Junortoun, Eppalock, Strathdale, Quarry Hill and Kennington residents were also affected.
Shortly before 9.30am a tree fell through power lines at Junortoun causing a major blackout. A conductor fault at Strathfieldsaye and a fault at Condon Street in Strathdale were also recorded.
About 30 homes at Junortoun were still without power at 4pm yesterday.
Long Gully also had power problems. A build-up of dust and debris sparked a power pole fire early yesterday morning, causing blackouts to about 700 local Powercor customers. A Powercor spokesman said the pole fire started about 3.30am at the corner of Sparrowhawk Road and Stray Street, Long Gully.
Power was restored to those residents about 8.40am.
The spokesman said the pole fire was caused by dust and debris caught up in the pole which caused a short-out.
The Long Gully outage caused some traffic signals to stop working and police were called to divert traffic at Creeth Street and Eaglehawk Road. Power technicians replaced a cross-arm and insulator on the power pole that was damaged by the fire.
Power had been restored to all residents by yesterday evening.
