KIALLA’S race walking star Zoe Boldiston struck gold at the Australian Junior track and field championships in Perth.
Racing in the under-17 5km walk, Boldiston powered to victory in 23minutes 55.31seconds.
The South Bendigo Athletics Club member missed breaking the meet record by one-hundredth of a second.
Bolidston’s latest success follows her being named the recipient of the Maxine Crouch Trust Rund in the bankmecu-backed Bendigo Advertiser-WIN Television Sports Star of the Year award for 2012-13.
Athletics Bendigo clubs were well represented at the national junior titles.
The Pryse brothers, Blake and Jemuel, won medals in their pole vault finals.
Blake soared 4.65m, a Bendigo centre record to be fourth in the under-20 final. A leap of 4.55m earned the Bendigo Harriers’ young gun third plce in the under-18s.
Jemuel cleared 3.20m to be runner-up in the under-15 pole vault.
Harriers’ clubmate Christopher Browne hurled the hammer 44.99m to be runner-up in the under-16s. Browne achieved a mark of 54.25m to be fourth in the discus.
Eaglehawk’s Maddi Lawson, 3.70m, amd Carlie Whitford, 63.47 seconds, were bronze medallists at the under-18 pole vault and the under-18 400m hurdles respectively.
