Trickett to speak at Horizon House fund-raiser

SWIMMING sensation Libby Trickett will speak at a fund-raising event at the Boardwalk tomorrow night.

The Raising the Light dinner will raise money for Horizon House to help homeless children in the region.

Co-organiser Robert Cook is hoping the event will raise $10,000 for the charity, similar to the efforts of last year’s inaugural Raising the Light dinner.

“It will be a fun evening for everyone and we are hoping to have 150 guests on the night,” he said.

“There will be dinner, welcome drinks, lots of prizes, raffles, an auction and the drawcard of having famous Olympian Libby Trickett there.”

Trickett, who will travel from Sydney to Bendigo just for the event, will speak of her extensive swimming career, which began in 2004 and saw her win four gold medals at the Olympics.

Trickett’s enormous contribution to Australian swimming was recognised when she received a Medal of the Order of Australia in 2005.

Since then, her contribution to the community has gone beyond her efforts in the pool and she will share her passion for life tomorrow.

Tickets are still available from the Boardwalk on 5443 9855 for $75, including dinner and drinks.
