Diesel graces Bendigo for an all-ages show

MULTI-AWARD winning musician Diesel is coming to Bendigo.

The six-time ARIA Award winning artist will perform at The Capital on Saturday, April 27, for his Velvet Curtain tour.

Diesel, who boasts a career spanning 25 years and has released 35 singles and 13 albums, said he was looking forward to performing at The Capital.

“What’s nice about this tour is that it’s all ages,” he said.

“I’m getting some quite young kids which is great. It’s not the normal boozy atmosphere.

“I still love a good pub gig but at the same time it’s great to play at a venue where you can hear a pin drop.

“That was what was terrifying at first with solo shows.

“But I’ve learnt to swim now and feel comfortable doing a whole show by myself and not think the sky will come falling down on my head.

“Playing in some of the beautiful venues this tour’s taking me on means I can squeeze every little bit out of my instruments – my instruments being my guitar and my voice.”

With blues music in his DNA, an influence largely from his father’s record collection, Diesel has blended all styles to come up with a truly unique sound, punctuated with his distinct guitar playing and vocals.

Diesel’s long line of musical accomplishments include releasing material as leader of Johnny Diesel and the Injectors, playing on several of Jimmy Barnes’ albums and producing an album by Richard Clapton and another by Vika and Linda Bull.

Diesel is now a renowned solo artist of great diversity who is able to blend his influences by also playing tracks by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding and Neil Young.
