Inglewood man bashed in bed

A 47-YEAR-OLD man was taken to Bendigo Hospital with serious head injuries after being attacked by two men while he slept in his Inglewood home on Saturday night.

Two Inglewood men, a 45-year-old and a 75-year-old, have been charged with aggravated burglary and intentionally causing serious injury.

Maryborough police’s Detective Sergeant Brett Caddy said it was alleged the men entered the victim’s Sullivan Street home between 11pm on Saturday and 12.30am on Sunday and assaulted the man while he was lying in bed asleep.

He said the victim called police just after 2.30am on Sunday.

Detective Sergeant Caddy said the two men were known to the victim.

He said they did not take anything when they were in the house. “They weren’t there to steal – put it that way,” he said.

Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said the man was taken to Bendigo Hospital with head injuries and a fractured jaw.

“He had facial and head abrasions and was also complaining of some neck soreness,” Mr Mullen said.

The man was still at Bendigo Hospital last night and was in a serious, but stable condition.

The two accused men

will face a hearing at Bendigo Magistrates Court on

March 15.
