Light upgrade helps Huntly players shine

HUNTLY sports groups are making use of recent upgrades to the Strauch Recreation Reserve.

The netball and tennis courts recently received a $130,000 lighting upgrade, which was officially unveiled on Saturday.

Strauch Reserve advisory board chairman Allen Dillon said the upgrades would have significant benefits for the clubs.

“It means the girls with netball can train under lights at night, and all the netball teams can train together,” he said. “With tennis, we can now have night competitions which will allow us to raise more revenue and improve our facilities even more. It’s fantastic.”

Minister for Sport and Recreation Hugh Delahunty said sporting clubs played a prominent role in rural and regional communities.

“It’s important we’ve got the infrastructure,” he said.
