Spirit the hottest ticket in town

IF you want to go to the Women’s National Basketball League grand final and you don’t have a ticket, you better get to Bendigo Stadium in a hurry.

The Bendigo Spirit are officially the hottest ticket in town after 2000 tickets to Sunday week’s grand final were sold in one day yesterday.

That leaves 1000 tickets remaining.

“We’ve been blown away by the reaction today,’’ Spirit administration manager Jess Lee said last night.

“We knew the tickets would be popular, but we never expected them to sell this fast.

“To sell 2000 tickets in one day is pretty amazing.

“The two grandstands are basically sold out and we’re now selling the seats for the stands at the end of the court.”

Meanwhile, after savouring Sunday’s thrilling  semi-final win for a couple of days it was back to business for the Spirit last night.

The players had their first training session since the victory over Dandenong.

Coach Bernie Harrower put his side through a solid 70-minute session.

Star guard Kristi Harrower joined in training, but wasn’t moving freely as she continues to nurse her sore Achilles.

The remainder of the squad looked sharp as it prepaers for the club’s first appearance in a WNBL grand final.

The Spirit will train tonight and on Saturday before watching Sunday’s preliminary final between Townsville and Dandenong.
