This event was the official Victorian launch of Donate Life Week 2013. Donate Life Week runs from Sunday, February 24 to Sunday, March 3 and highlights the need for us all to discover, decide and discuss organ and tissue donation.
As part of the new Labor government national reform of organ and tissue donation, the family of every potential donor will be asked to give their consent to donation if the situation arises. The request will be made only by trained health professionals.
That’s why it is an important conversation that we all need to have with our family. An organ and tissue donor could transform the lives of 10 or more people. I have had the conversation with my family and they are aware of my wishes and know that I wish to be a donor.
During Donate Life Week, I would like to encourage everyone to take some time and share your wish to donate with your family and close friends, and ask them about their wishes.

Labor candidate for Bendigo
