Healthy living put on display in Long Gully

HEALTHY living was in the spotlight at the weekend’s free community day in Long Gully.

The event was hosted by the City of Greater Bendigo and Bendigo Community Health Services at the Long Gully Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

Families made the most of a host of fun-filled activities including egg-and-spoon races, sack races, cooking demonstrations and dance classes.

Children made a bee-line for the petting zoo and sported colourful designs on their cheeks, thanks to a face painting marquee.

Council’s manager of active and healthy communities Patrick Jess said the Healthy Together Bendigo initiative was well received by the community.

“It went really well,” he said.

“We’ve had a great turnout and everyone’s participating in the various activities.”
