Bendigo police investigate more fires

POLICE were again called to three fires they believe were deliberately lit around Eaglehawk and California Gully this morning.

Fire investigators are looking into the fires which they believe may be linked.

The first fire was called in just after 2am and burnt a small amount of grass near the intersection of Simpsons and Neilborough roads.

Another fire just 500m away in Neilborough Road was sparked 30 minutes later, police said.

Just before 7am, police were called to another fire that burnt a tree in Upper California Gully Road.

Sergeant Greg Gentry said all were being treated as suspicious.

Police are calling for any witnesses around those areas that may have seen anything out of the ordinary.

"There was no-one cited at the scene," Sergeant Gentry said.

"But if anyone saw anyone hanging around the area they should contact Bendigo Police on 5448 1300."

It comes just one day after two bin fires were lit in Eaglehawk and the Star Cinema was broken in to.
