The AFL will detail its findings into the tanking allegations against the Melbourne Football Club on Tuesday afternoon.

In the latest instalment of a lengthy six-month investigation, the AFL will hold a media conference at 2pm with chief executive Andrew Demetriou an second-in-charge Gillon McLachlan.

Melbourne remains hopeful of diluting its expected $500,000 fine as a result of the investigation into whether it deliberately lost games in 2009.

The AFL Commission met on Monday and, as of Monday night, the Demons were awaiting details of the final charges to be laid by the league.

Earlier on Tuesday, Jim Stynes' widow said the reputation of the former Melbourne president Jim Stynes will not be tarnished by any finding the club deliberately lost matches during his leadership.

Stynes, who died almost a year ago, was club president in 2009 when the club was alleged to have deliberately lost matches in its efforts to secure better draft picks.
