As a resident of Golden Square it is disappointing to see the pool closed on the mayor’s vote.

But my thanks to those councillors who did stand up for the public pool.
Councillor Chapman deserves praise for her effort and the planned meeting of residents for February 18 to form a committee will go ahead, because this fight is not over yet.
What is confirmed, and what every citizen should take note of, is that this council does not believe in mediation or consultation with its ratepayers.
What some of our younger members of the community have discovered is that politics whether local, state or federal is about power not the democratic process of involvement.
Look out other localities for your pool.
So come form a committee to represent Golden Square ratepayers, small business, schools and our area.
To think the council can waste money, such as $700,000 for a glorified dunny, and yet ignores the youth of our local community, is a disgrace.
