Police investigate Kangaroo Flat fires

POLICE are investigating two fires they believe were deliberately lit in Kangaroo Flat overnight.

Sergeant Mick McCrann from Bendigo Police said the CFA attended a grass fire in Londey Street about 10.30pm before being called to a second incident at the corner of Wesley Street and Duke Street.

"We believe these fires are linked," Sergeant Mick McCrann said.

"We believe it was the same perpetrator/s for both.

"Anyone with information, anyone who might have seen someone leaving the area at that time or any suspicious activity, should contact Bendigo Police (5448 1300) or Crime Stoppers (1800 333 000).

Sergeant McCran said the fire in Londy Street was about four metres by four metres.

"That fire was extinguished with no property damaged and then a short time later the CFA was called to the second fire.

"That was about 10 metres by 10 metres.

"A witness at one of the fires saw a 2000 model Toyota Camry or Avalon, in white, leaving the scene at the time.

"So, again, if anyone has information contact police."
