Late staff member Kim Davis was killed in a motorbike accident before last year’s fund-raising shave and chief executive Darren Rogers is two years into remission for Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Mr Rogers and Dr Debbie Kesper hope to raise $10,000 for the cause, with funds going towards research into leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and other blood disorders.
“I think the World’s Greatest Shave highlights a very good cause,” Mr Rogers said.
“For us at the hospital it’s to acknowledge the life of one of our caregivers who tragically lost her life before the shave last year.
“We’re also going to be celebrating Kim’s life with a big luncheon in the atrium.”
Dr Kesper said her aunty had recently finished chemotherapy and that she would be happy to shave her head if the funds could be raised.
“Hopefully the staff at the hospital won’t laugh at me,” she said.
“The rehab staff are very keen for their doctor to do the rounds with no hair.
“Kim was very passionate and it’s great we’re able to continue that passion this year.”
A lunchtime shave is planned for March 15 and Mr Rogers urged local businesses to support the cause.
