Avid Bendigo Blues fan meets his boys

AFTER 64 years, Carlton is the team that keeps on giving for long-time member Bill Tyack.

Mr Tyack was one of many fans to meet Carlton players Bryce Gibbs and Kade Simpson at the Bendigo Post Office yesterday. The players were there as part of the “Boots for All” program to promote the donation of quality second-hand sporting equipment for sporting teams across Australia.

Mr Tyack, who has been a member with Carlton since 1949, said he was elated to meet both Gibbs and Simpson.

After telling the players he was an avid Carlton supporter, Mr Tyack showed them a photo of himself with Carlton president Stephen “Sticks” Kernahan taken at a luncheon held to celebrate those Carlton fans who had been members for 50 years or more.

“I didn’t ask for the photo, Sticks wanted one with me!” he joked.

Mr Tyack has been a member for eight of Carlton’s 16 premierships and hopes to see the team win another flag this year with Mick Malthouse stepping up as coach.

The Carlton Football Club is in Bendigo until today as part of the AFL Community Camps Program.

Anyone wanting to donate sporting equipment for the Boots for All campaign should drop into the Bendigo Post Office.
