A Country Fire Authority incident controller has praised the good work of firefighters on the ground and in the air for stopping a scrub fire that could have threatened Elphinstone last night.
Captain AJ Chapman of the Elphinstone brigade said units were called to the fire in Buntons Lane at 6pm last night.
He said the fire jumped into scrub and there were 'grave fears' for the west side of Elphinstone before good work by fire crews brought the blaze under control.
Captain Chapman said the fire had damaged some structures at the point of origin but no homes.
He said the fire had been started by electrical equipment.
Captain Chapman said the Helitak air support completed some great work in helping ground crews control the fire quickly.
