Golden Square man faces firearms charge

A Golden Square man accused of threatening a woman with a gun in a domestic dispute while he was out on parole has been charged with a firearms offence.

Warren Comodromos, 40, was taken into custody on Monday after the alleged incident in Specimen Hill Road, Golden Square.

He was released into the custody of Detective Senior Constable Scott Tuddenham yesterday after an application in the Bendigo Magistrates Court.

Comodromos, unshaven and wearing a dark khaki hoodie, leaned back in the dock for much of the short proceeding.

When police prosecutor Senior Constable Tony Graham said Detective Tuddenham needed two hours with the accused, Comodromos interjected.

“You’re gonna need longer than that,” he said.

Senior Constable Graham amended his request to four hours.

With the custody order granted, the court also considered an intervention order application from Comodromos’s alleged victim.

Comodromos said he consented to the order.

“If they want the intervention order they can have it for the rest of my natural living life,” he said.

Magistrate William Gibb said only a 12-month order was required and warned Comodromos he would be charged if he breached the order.

Comodromos will remain in custody, serving the rest of his sentence for breaching parole.

He has been summonsed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on February 12 to answer a charge of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.– ELISE SNASHALL-WOODHAMS
