COUNTRY Fire Authority crews were put to work early today, a day of total fire ban, after a fire at Elphinstone broke out around 7am.
Crews brought the one-hectare grass fire under control within an hour.
A small fire also broke out in Mia Mia this afternoon.
Two CFA units were called to the grass and scrub fire that started at 12.30pm. It was also quickly brought under control.
Early this morning the Bureau of Meteorology warned severe weather would bring damaging winds to the central and north central districts.
This advice has since been cancelled as a cool change moving in from the Gippsland area weakens.
