Job search success for Midge

MIDGE Holman's road-side sign has landed him a job at Andy's Earthmovers in Big Hill.

Andy's Earthmovers Manager Andy Hoare said he spotted Midge with his sign that afternoon and recognised a man "who was passionate about working".

"We drove past and saw him standing there and it was about 37 degrees," he said.

"We drove back past a little later, and I did a U-turn. It was 38 degrees and he was still there."

"Anyone willing to stand outside on a 38 degree day probably needs a job."

Mr Holman said it was the end of 35 years of searching for an ongoing job.

He said he got a bit emotional when he was offered a job.

"You can't imagine what it's like. I'm just extremely rapt."

He will start as an assistant yardman tomorrow.
