Regarding “The Way We Were” photo.
A week ago I received from my cousin in Rochester a copy of the Bendigo Advertiser (January 1, 2013) showing a photo of five pupils at Lockwood South State School taken in 1945 four months after the end of World War II (reprinted, right).
At that time I was the teacher at that little country school.
Ian Schultz’s sister had also been a pupil but had left once she had passed her “Merit” exam.
That was almost 60 years ago and now quite a large country school occupies the ground.
How time changes everything!
My greetings go to Annetyte and Anne and all of the former pupils.
I am 90 years old now, but I remember them all.
Your former teacher,
Win Young (nee Brooks),
