Burnley Tunnel reopens after car fire

The Burnley Tunnel has reopened after emergency services extinguish a ute that caught fire on Thursday afternoon.

A Metropolitan Fire Brigade spokeswoman said the fire appeared to have started in the brakes of a ute about 3.50pm.

The sprinkler system in the tunnel had been activated before the MFB arrived. Five fire trucks are still on the scene.
