THE Bendigo District Cricket Association achieved a hat-trick of victories in yesterday’s start to Fonterra Junior Country Week.
Playing on home turf, Bendigo dominated with bat and ball against Murray Valley in matches reduced to 35 over innings because of the heat.
In the under-16A clash at North Bendigo, the hosts held the visitors to 7-123.
Jayden Burke took 2-3 off two overs, while Billy Evans, Jamieson Sheehan, Liam Bowe and Callum Tibbett took a wicket apiece. The other dismissal was a run out.
Brayden Stepien smack a brilliant 50 as Bendigo reached 0-70 off seven overs.
The BDCA reached 8-231 as Jamison Sheehan, 58 retired, Isaac Conway, 47 retired, and Billy Evans, 30, led the way.
The under-16B team travelled to Waaia.
Bendigo scored 4-159 as Jed Zipper 27 retired, and Callum Draper 21 retired, led the way.
Murray Valley was held to 7-80 as James Dempsey, 2-8, and Jack Neylon, 2-10, bowled superbly.
The under-14 match was at J.L. King Weeroona Oval in Bendigo.
Caleb Sheehan and Cooper Jones were unbeaten on 42 and 40 respectively as Bendigo reached 4-189. The Valley was held to 9-111 as Jack Bouwmeester 2-9, Josh Williams 2-13, and James Ryan 2-19 bowled well.
Today, Bendigo takes on Campaspe Kyabram from 10am.
Under-14s at Echuca South, under-16A at Windridge Oval, and under-16B at Harry Trott Oval in Kennington.
