Bendigo to welcome new police inspector

Bendigo is set to welcome a new police inspector who will take on the role of Local Area Commander.

Inspector Brad Dixon will leave his post in Horsham at the end of this week to take up the position in Bendigo.

Inspector Dixon will replace Inspector Mark Edwards in what he described as “part of a rotation process”.

The new commander said he looked forward to returning to work in the part of Victoria where his family is based.

“It has been difficult living away from home for the past two years,” he said.

"What I look forward to in my new role is getting more involved with the community.

"That role will allow me to become more involved."

Mr Dixon became a policeman in January 1987 and started work in Melbourne.

He moved to the country for work in 1991 and had jobs in Wangaratta, Shepparton, Maryborough and Ballarat.
