Athletes, officials and spectators braved the hot conditions for contests in decathlon, heptathlon or pentathlon.
Among the many highlights was the centre and region records broken by Bendigo Harriers young gun Blake Pryse as he won the under-18 decathlon at the La Trobe University Bendigo athletics complex in Flora Hill.
Kangaroo Flat-based Pryse finished the gruelling 10-discipline contest with a score of 6492 points.
Disciplines in the decathlon were 100m, hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400m, hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1500m.
Pryse’s younger brother, Jemuel won a great battle with Bendigo Harriers clubmate Declan Rochford in the under-16 heptathlon, a seven-event contest.
Coach of the Pryse brothers, Brett Gilligan also competed and scored 5702 points to claim the Australian Masters 35-39 years decathlon.
Eaglehawk’s Carlie Whitford won the under-20 women’s heptathlon.
The under-14s contested a five-discipline pentathlon.
