BENDIGO residents could be forgiven for being a little weary at the weekend after sweltering through the hottest night since January 2010.
The temperature peaked at 41 degrees at 3.30pm on Friday and didn’t begin to drop until about 8.30pm.
At midnight it was still a sweaty 31.6 degrees before cooling to 24 degrees at 3.30am on Saturday.
A Bureau of Meteorology spokesman said the overnight minimum was 21.7 degrees at 4.48am on Saturday.
“That’s the warmest night since January 12, 2010, when it was 27.3 overnight,” he said.
With more heatwave conditions over the coming days, the Bureau of Meteorology expects maximum temperatures will not drop below 30 until a weak change on Wednesday.
