Bendigo volleyballer James Haythorne will debut in the green and gold next year after earning selection in the Australian Youth Volleyball Squad.

Haythorne will play for Australia in the Warrnambool Seaside Tournament to be held over the Labour Day long weekend from March 9 to 11.
The teenager has made a steady progression through the ranks after first playing volleyball five years ago.
This year he represented his school and Victoria – where he was vice-captain of the team.
An athlete with the Bendigo Academy of Sport’s Volleyball Program, Haythorne has been training hard to under the tutelage of volleyball head coach Gary Roberts.
Haythorne will take part in training camps ahead of the Warrnambool event, where he will be aiming to perform well to be picked for the national team to play at the Asian Championships in Thailand.
Haythorne thanked his mother, Jo, for her support throughout his volleyball career.
