Kangaroo Flat CFA Lieutenant Adam Melis estimated the Santa run had been going for “at least 40 years”.
Santa will travel on the back of vintage trucks from 5.30pm until 9pm and drop off bags of lollies to children in the neighbourhood.
“It’s a good exercise and people look forward to it,” Lieutenant Melis said. “Kangaroo Flat is getting bigger and bigger, and Santa can only be stretched so far.”
The unit is also celebrating the acquisition of a new Nissan Patrol after six years of fund-raising.
The new car will be used for fire callouts and for strike teams attending disasters such as bushfires.
