Congratulations must go to Cr Cox for his tireless effort to again place the independent review on the council agenda and have it succeed with the support of mayor Lisa Ruffell and a number of new councillors.
On reading the officers’ report, it is painfully obvious that the CEO did not want this review to get up. Why, if there is savings to be had, is he so against the idea?
Even if we only save $1 million a year it will help. After all we have just had to fork out $10 million on an unseen superannuation bill.
As this original idea was put forward by two very astute business people, namely Mr Coleman and Mr McKenzie, I feel that should this review produce the predicted outcome, then these two gentlemen should be duly recognised by this council for their effort.
