McIvor, from Eaglehawk, has played with the Bendigo Pioneers, and was also selected in this year’s VCFL under-19 team that played the Victorian Amateurs.
“Riley’s pre-season and the way he has attacked it has been absolutely fantastic,” Gold coach Aussie Jones said yesterday.
“He is absolutely flying on the track and is one of the leaders with everything we do from the game-sense work to the fitness, so he’s a great addition.”
Crosbie was one of the young guns of the Bendigo Football League this year with Gisborne on a wing.
One of his standout performances was the losing grand final against Golden Square when he was Gisborne’s second-best player behind Darren Farrugia.
Essendon’s VFL team had also been keen to secure Crosbie.
“Essendon was fairly keen to get him, but in the end, Lachie saw the opportunities that we could give him as a better option for him,” Jones said.
“We’re very excited about what Lachie can bring to the club.”
Cain joins the Gold from Maryborough Castlemaine District Football League club Maldon.
“Tom did all the pre-season training with Bendigo last year and played in all the practice matches,” Jones said.
“He probably should have been thereabouts on the list of 21, so he has come back to have another crack at it.
“He’s around that six-foot-one mark and about 92 kilograms with a good fitness base and is hard at the footy.
“He’s going to be handy for us because that midfield group we’ve got at the moment is fairly light on in terms of size, so he will be able to put some bulk around them.”
The VFL draw for next season was released this week, with the Gold to begin their 2013 season under lights against Essendon at the Queen Elizabeth Oval on Friday, April 5.
That will be the first of five games at the QEO in the opening six rounds.
